Fabric & Supplies
6 – 3” – 4” fabric squares (depending on the desired finished size)
6 – 3” – 4” tulle squares
1 – 3” accent fabric square for button
One button cover 7/8” or 1 1/2”
Pin back or clip
Hand sewing needle
Hot glue gun (optional)

Layering
With right sides up, alternate the fabric and tulle squares in the following order:
1 fabric square
1 tulle square
2 fabric squares
2 tulle squares
2 fabric squares
2 tulle squares
1 fabric square
1 tulle square

 

Directions

  1. Pin the center to hold the layers together.
  2. Sew a circle the size of a nickel in the center.
  3. Trim the layered squares into a circle.
  4. Cut random slits not more than 1/2” width around the circle up to the stitching in the center. Be careful not to cut through the stitching.
  5. Soak flower in hot water and swish it around. Squeeze the water out and throw it into the dryer with a towel.
  6. Following the directions on the back of the button cover package, use the accent fabric to cover the button.
  7. Hand sew the button to the center of the flower.
  8. Hand sew or use a hot glue gun to attach pin or clip to the back of the flower.
