YES You Can…Machine Quilt!

It is possible to quilt your quilts! This beginner class offers techniques needed to be successful on any size quilt. Learn straight line, stitch in the ditch, free-motion, stippling and echo quilting. See how the experts pin baste, select and mark a quilting pattern. Experiment with decorative threads, understand tension adjustment and other helpful tools for complete success.

Fee: $40 (Beginner)

Supply List:

  • Sewing machine in good working order, foot control and power cord
  • Walking foot
  • Free-motion quilting foot for your brand of sewing machine

(Bernina Owners: Foot #24 or Bernina Stitch Regulator)
(Husqvarna Viking Owners: Free-Motion Spring Action Foot)

  • White thread – Isacord, Robison-Anton, Aurifil or Mettler – the thinner the better!
  • Topstitch needle 90/14
  • Straight Stitch Throat Plate – optional but highly recommended
  • Sewing platform/Extension table such as a Sew Steady Table or Slide on Table
  • Small scissors
  • Size 1 safety pins
  • Quilting gloves – we have a variety of sizes
  • 1 – 2/3 yards Cotton Fabric for back
  • Cotton Batting 40″ x 60″
  • Bring a drink and a snack to keep your energy levels high!

Before Class:

  • Please come in prior to class to pin baste the quilt panel, batting and fabric back together using our tables. If you can not arrive prior to class, please let us know you will come in at least 30 minutes before class starts.
