With the long awaited arrival of Claudia from Claudia’s Creations, local embroiderers where treated to a fantastic trunk show, lecture and a 2-day workshop. Claudia specializes in teaching rehooping techniques to take regularly sized designs and make them 5 – 10 times the size of your current embroidery hoop.
Claudia has designed many embroidery patterns available on CD in all sewing machine formats and for many different sizes of hoops. She uses the Bernina Designer Plus software to create her masterpieces and then divides them into hoopible sizes. Her technique of marking the hoop template with the starting point prior to hooping each section is ingenious.
Here workshop attendees worked two full days mastering their the hooping technique shown in the video below. Along with creating this quilt “Tis the Season”, students gained additional confidence in running their current embroidery machines. Every time you take a class, whether you are a beginner or an expert, you are guaranteed to learn something new. For some of the attendees they learned more than a few!

Claudia started her embroidery journey as an employee of Bernina Connection in Phoenix, Arizona. The owner asked her to take over teaching the Bernina software classes after the previous teacher moved out of town. At that time Claudia did not even know the different between a right and a left mouse click. Each month she was required to teach a new software technique at the Bernina Software Club and each month she learned something new. After many years of coming up with a new project every month for this club she had mastered the Bernina Embroidery Designer software. Those club members inspired her to pursue designing and producing larger embroidery designs that were created with multiple hoopings.
As her talents became known, Claudia was asked to teach workshops on the Bernina Designer software and her rehooping techniques. She developed exclusive workshop design collections that only those attending the workshop could purchase. Many of her past workshop collections are now available at Heirloom Creations to purchase.
We will be scheduling a “You Pick” a Claudia’s Creations collection and we will provide the instruction to creating your masterpiece. Claudia creates her design collections to work with embroidery hoops 6” wide, 8” wide and 9” wide. The bigger your hoop, the less time you have to rehoop.
A couple favorites from the workshop have been “Spring Surprise!” The finished size is 25” x 20”, takes only four fabrics and six threads. The minimum hoop requirement is 5” x 7”.

Pillow Talk and More Pillow Talk
The pillow talk series can be an exchangeable pillow wrap or a quilt block. If you own embroidery software you can switch out a couple of the words and insert a name, year or special event.
