Meet Sara Snuggerud, serger master since she was 15 years old.

Sara started working at a sewing machine store when she was 15 years old. Sergers were all the rage. That was the “BEM” era (Before Embroidery Machines). Little old ladies figured out Sara would rethread their sergers for them if they asked. At 15 you don’t say no to little old ladies. She then realized that if she taught them how a serger works they could do it themselves. And so, her love of sergers began.

Fast forward a few years. Now Sara and her husband Steve, run a successful Bernina and Husqvarna Viking sewing machine store Heirloom Creations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She writes a blog each week for the store and has a YouTube Channel with over 120K subscribers and 22 million views. Click here to link to the blog.

She is also the talent, producer, and editor of hundreds of free serger videos she has on YouTube channel via her website www.SewingMastery.com. Here she takes sewing machines, sergers and embroidery machines, opens them up and does a video on EVERY PAGE OF THE MANUAL! All videos are short and sweet allowing users to find the information quickly.

Sara also documented her entire Craftsy experience for her blog in this fun video. This go-behind-the-scenes video will give you a feel of what it takes to make a Craftsy class.

Looking back she realized she had a love for sergers way back at the beginning with two separate memories.

First, she got to sell her mom her very first serger. Sara’s mom Carol, had a alterations business in their home but always said she didn’t need a serger. “She was just fine”. A special request from one of her best customers asked if she could make a custom linen tablecloth and a set of 24 napkins for her gigantic dinner table. Carol asked Sara if she could “test out” a sergers rolled hem feature at the store. One hour later all the napkins and the tablecloth were finished. She charged a premium price for the custom job even though it only took her an hour to complete. That proved why a serger is a great time saver!

Second, Sara was instructed to attended a Bernina dealer serger training when she was a teenager. Knowing that she would be totally bored at the training because she was already teaching serger classes to her customers, she took along a knit summer outfit all cut out and ready to serge. Instead of just sitting around between samples waiting for the slow dealers to figure out their sergers, she serged the entire outfit together during the training!

Today, her love and knowledge of all types of sewing machines, sergers and embroidery machines becomes noticeable when people come to her store to ask questions. Check out her blog, Craftsy class and her videos to see what new things you can learn about your own machines.
