Heirloom Creations Triangle Exchange – Sneek Peek

We Carry
by Sara Snuggerud in Sewing Tips

Are you intrigued by scrappy quilts, but confounded and confused by the complexity of assembling a large quantity of fabrics to successfully achieve the “look”? Then you’ll want to join us for our first-ever Heirloom Creations Triangle Exchange!

Being introduced at the Tuesday, January 10, 2012, Sewtopia Sewing Club will be the exchange along with the trunk show of quilts from the book Friendship Triangles by Laundry Basket quilts. We will also be posting a video in the near future for those who wish to participate who are not regular Sewtopia members.

Here’s how the Triangle Exchange works:

1. Purchase a Cinnamon Stick from Heirloom Creations ($2.99 each).
“What is a Cinnamon Stick?” you ask. It’s a roll of 2 different fabrics – a light and a dark – rolled together with a piece of Triangle Paper which is printed with stitching lines for 28 half-square triangles.

2. Take the Cinnamon Stick home, sew on the stitching lines as indicated on the Triangle Paper, and cut the triangles apart.

3. Leaving the paper attached, and without pressing them open, put the 28 triangles in a small bag and return them to Heirloom Creations at your convenience – any time between now and the last collection day of the Exchange, Saturday, April 28, 2012.

4. We at Heirloom Creations will keep track of how many triangles you return to us, and sort them into separate containers where they’ll get mixed up with all the other triangles returned.

5. At the end of the Exchange, we’ll present you with a bag with the same number of triangles you returned to us, but in a truly scrappy assortment!

6. Need suggestions for using half-square triangles? Check out the Friendship Triangle book by Laundry Basket Quilts.

7. Save the Date: Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 9am – come help mix up and count out the triangles. Join us for coffee and morning treats. If you can not attend, we will be also counting out your triangles for you for pick up at your leisure.

8. If you wish to participate and you do not live in our area, please call the store to purchase desired amounts of Cinnamon Sticks. Return them to us prior to April 28, 2012 with $4.99 for return shipping.

We will be posting more details about this exchange after we launch the program at the Sewtopia Sewing Club. Join us for something new this 2012!
