Sewtopia Sewing Club – “Christmas in July”

We Carry
by Sara Snuggerud in Sewing Tips

Christmas comes around every year on December 25. So why does it sneak up on people? They didn’t start in July.

Christmas in July seems to be a popular catch-phrase for retailers. But for the sewing world it means the start of holiday sewing. By starting early enough in the year on holiday projects, we then have a fighting chance of getting them done in time. Though we always seem to add more to our plate as the holidays approach, having a plan will help you enjoy the sewing instead of having to rush through the process on a tight deadline.

We have pulled together a variety of small projects and quilts in this Sewtopia Sewing Club review video.

Dot the Halls by Anita Goodesign
This modern twist on the classic holiday designs uses embroidered dots to shape each look. Instead of applique or fill stitches, dots are the featured fill. By changing the colors or using metallic thread, these designs will have people looking twice at how these where made.

Folded Star Hot Pad
Using insul-bright heat resistant interfacing and pre-printed templates, this folded star hot pad can be sewn up by the dozens. This classic star look with new modern colors will light up any kitchen or dining room table.

Creative Grid Curvy Log Cabin Trim Tool

Since we had a variety of quilt samples from Creative Grid’s new Curvy Log Cabin Trim Tool to do a video, we added them into the Sewtopia Christmas in July program. The Trim the Tree quilt has been very popular since the videos release.

Is this the year you start holiday sewing earlier than last year? We challenge you to have a relaxing holiday season because you have planned ahead!

We hope we have given you some great inspiration and some gift suggestions for this coming year.
