Fabric & Supplies
6 – 3” – 4” fabric squares (depending on the desired finished size)
6 – 3” – 4” tulle squares
1 – 3” accent fabric square for button
One button cover 7/8” or 1 1/2”
Pin back or clip
Hand sewing needle
Hot glue gun (optional)
Layering
With right sides up, alternate the fabric and tulle squares in the following order:
1 fabric square
1 tulle square
2 fabric squares
2 tulle squares
2 fabric squares
2 tulle squares
1 fabric square
1 tulle square
Directions
- Pin the center to hold the layers together.
- Sew a circle the size of a nickel in the center.
- Trim the layered squares into a circle.
- Cut random slits not more than 1/2” width around the circle up to the stitching in the center. Be careful not to cut through the stitching.
- Soak flower in hot water and swish it around. Squeeze the water out and throw it into the dryer with a towel.
- Following the directions on the back of the button cover package, use the accent fabric to cover the button.
- Hand sew the button to the center of the flower.
- Hand sew or use a hot glue gun to attach pin or clip to the back of the flower.
