We love AccuQuilt GO! fabric strip cutters! “AccuQuilt saves kids quilt camp” was all we kept thinking during the entire week of camp. Continue reading to find out why.
Heirloom Creations annual Kids Quilt Camp consists of 5 days, 2 1/2 hours each day and they sew a Rail Fence quilt from start to finish. That is a high challenge for most teachers, but not Sara Snuggerud. She has been teaching kids to sew since she was in High School.
The first day is always the craziest. Most students who sign up have no clue how to run a sewing machine. Priority #1…get all eight students to successfully wind a bobbin and thread their sewing machine. Next, its time to practice sewing straight. Sara hands out fabric strips to learn pinning, sewing and pressing accurate 1/4″ seams. Once students prove they can sew a straight seam they can start on their quilt.
While Sara works with the students, the Heirloom Creations “cutting fairies” (Judeen and Edna) have commandeered the student’s fabrics and head off to cut 24 – 3″ strips for each of the 8 students. That is a total of 192 strips!
But not this year. This year would be different!
This year they reached for the AccuQuilt GO! 3″ strip cutter and whipped through the dreaded cutting chore in minutes instead of an hour.
Those “cutting fairies” were smiling from ear to ear this year. Not one hair on their head out of place. No sweat on their brows. Just pure joy on their faces. All because of the AccuQuilt GO! fabric cutter.
Not only where the cutting fairies happy, but Sara noticed that the kids where having an easier time keeping their sewing lines straighter throughout the entire camp. It’s not that cutting with a rotary cutter and ruler was that inaccurate, the AccuQuilt GO! fabric cutter was just that MORE perfect than anything we have had cut in the past.
It was pure awesome!
Happy quilt campers = Happy quilt teachers

We had one returning student that selected to use the AccuQuilt GO! Tumbler die and make this quilt she found online in near identical colors. Inspired by a blog post by Canoe Ridge Creations, she choose to make this quilt.
Once again, AccuQuilt Saves Kids Quilt Camp! We cut over 360 tumbler blocks for this student all with the AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutter. Notice how the corners are notched for easy alignment and sewing. This 10 year old did awesome all because these blocks almost align themselves!

Thank you AccuQuilt for making this year’s kids quilt camp a super success! We would not have done it so quickly and accurately with out you.
If Heirloom Creations lives and breaths by the AccuQuilt GO! fabric cutter, why don’t you?
Come see and experience why we don’t use anything else to cut our quilts out with anymore!
