Schmetz Quilting Needles

Do you want to see your block intersections meet more precisely? Try using  Schmetz Quilting needles size 75/11!

They are made especially for piecing and machine quilting. The thin tapered design of these needles allows them to pass through many layers smoothly to help eliminate skipped stitches and keep stitches even. These needles come in size 75 which is fine for piecing with 50 weight threads, or size 90 which works well with the heavier plain or variegated 40 weight threads for quilting.

The long staple Aurifil cotton is very smooth, and strong. It is my favorite thread for detailed machine quilting. We recommend the Aurifil 50 weight/2 ply thread for fine detailed machine quilting to prevent bulky thread build up when you are micro stippling. It is also perfect for invisible ditch stitching as the thread disappears into the valley between the seams.

We recommend that you try Cotton Mako’ Ne 50/2 in the bobbin when you want the back of your work to be color matched when quilting. Both solid and variegate colors are available. Great for piecing, machine appliqué, and hand appliqué it comes on 1,300 meters (1,422 yard) spools. At $8.99 a spool it is a great buy!

Egyptian long staple cotton thread is so fine that it just glides through the sewing machine. Being so fine much more yardage will fit on the bobbin, leaving you with more time to sew and less time winding and changing empty bobbins.

The seams lay completely flat after they have been pressed for more accurate seam allowanced and finished block sizes. You will also notice less lint build up in the sewing machine.colorscreat.jpg
